The third Eastern Economic Forum will again be held on the Russian Island in September, 2017. Created by the initiative of the President of Russia, the Eastern Economic Forum in a very short time became a powerful platform for the development of the regional economy. The main theme of the upcoming Eastern Economic Forum will be attraction of foreign investment for the development of the region's economy and qualified personnel, required for the implementation of modern economic projects.

The economic projects realized in Primorsky region were widely represented during Russian investment forum, that was held in Sochi on February. As Vladimir Miklushevsky stated at the forum, the volume of Japanese, Chinese and South Korean investments is constantly increasing in Primorsky region. Foreign investors are interested in creation of high-tech industries and development of  the tourism industry in the region.

More than 30 companies became the residents of three territories of priority development in Primorsky region. They have created 10 thousand jobs and have already brought more than 350 million rubles to the budget of the region. And the largest Russian investors intend to further develop their production in Primorsky region.

In order to successfully implement the plans of Russian businesses in Primorsky region, the borders of “Mikhailovsky” priority development area will be expanded in 2017.  According to the plan, Khorolsky and Khankaisky districs will become a part of “Mikhailovsky” priority development area.

In March, the Chairman of the Government of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree on establishment of new priority development area in Primorsky region-Neftekhimicheskyi (petrochemical) priority development area. It was set up for the purpose of development of the petrochemical cluster in the Far Eastern Federal district of Russia, creation of new jobs and attraction of investments. According to Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, new priority development area will attract more than 540 billion rubles of private investments.

Infrastructure is being created on the priority development areas of Primorsky region. Roads to the future factories and enterprises are being built today. According to the plan, 25 kilometers of new roads will be built within this year. This building work is being funded by territorial budget.

Resident of “Nadezdinsky” priority development area is going to create a mill, which will produce concrete structures for the construction of apartment buildings. There are no analogues to such mill in the Far East of Russia.

As resident said, infrastructure development level of the priority development areas was one of the main factors that influence investors’ choice.

Not only production works, but also the sphere of tourism is being actively developed in Primorsky region. For example, the largest water park in the Far East of Russia is being created in Khasansky district. This project is conducted by Russian investors and Chinese builders. Both are the residents of Vladivostok free port.

The pace of tourism development in Primorsky region became a strong factor of development of the economy of the region as a whole. In particular, a well-known Chinese company intends to build a new 400-room hotel in Vladivostok. The modern hotel will be located right in the sea. 

Besides, water taxi service became legal now. Now owners of small vessels can carry out transportation of passengers on powerboats and small boats.

Vitaly Klyuev, Director of Department of State Policy for the Marine and River Transport of the Russian Federation: "From now on, when new regulation comes into force, the owners of powerboats and small boats only need to provide vessel's certificate to get the license.  Federal Transportation Inspection Service must issue the license for transportation of passengers on small vessels within 30 days".

About 40 thousand of small vessels are being registered in Primorsky region. This is a small business sector that can be involved in the development of local tourism. Boat trips will become legal now. The main thing for boat owners now is to take all measures to ensure safety at sea.

More and more tourists visit Primorsky region. It is obvious that the tourist flow will become a factor of development of small businesses and entrepreneurships in the region in 2017.
