Import of contaminated fruits and vegetables from China is not allowed in Primorye
The products were contaminated with quarantine for Russia pests for plants - peach seedworm. Almost 25 tons of fruits and vegetables were returned to China.
The officials of the Poltava phytosanitary control post (Poltavka village) of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Primorsky Region and the Sakhalin Region have found the peach seedworm in 24,851 tons of fruit and vegetables received from China.
Laboratory tests, made by the Primorsky branch of the Quarantine Center Rosselkhoznadzor, confirmed that 1418 kg of apricots were infested with peach seedworm in the total volume of imported fruit. This is reported by "Vesti: Primorye" with reference to the Office of the Rosselkhoznadzor for Primorsky Region and the Sakhalin Region.
According to the decision of the freight owner the import of products was banned, the whole shipment (total weight of 24,851 kg) was returned to the People's Republic of China.
