Russia is interested in transit possibilities of the Trans-Siberian railway (Part 1)

When the relationship between Russia and Japan is being discussed the first thing that comes to mind is the Kuril islands. This particular problem stops the development of the international economical relationships between these two countries. But the situation seems to change and Japan is the one to make the first move.

In the current uneasy economical situation businesses seek new possibilities of decreasing their transport and other expenses.

As bizarre as it may be seen, the most convenient way for Japanese entrepreneurs to transfer their goods to Europe is via the Trans-Siberian railway. Moreover, during the Soviet times this particular route has already been functioning and Japan was transporting 20% of its goods to the European market.

But then with the collapse of the USSR in the 90s, the transportation of Japanese goods decreased in 40%.
