In the Seaside art gallery bloomed

The regional art gallery presents a new international project. This is a continuation of cooperation with the masters of arts of South Korea. The personal exhibition of the artist Kim Myung-Suk opens to the seaside audience the original technique of working with textiles. And this is her first Vernissage in Russia.

At first glance, these are large paintings. Coming closer, the viewer discovers that the pictures are soft, like grass, cut from velour. Kim Myung-Suk graduated from the art faculty of the University of kenhi, in her biography — eleven personal and forty collective exhibitions in Asia and Europe. But when she had to fight cancer, she decided to replace the paint with fabric.

Svetlana Rusnak, Deputy Director of the Primorskaya state art gallery: "Sometimes, while dissolving clothes that were in use, sometimes using clean fabrics of different textures, she cuts them into thin ribbons. Then, according to the sketch, which she previously makes, builds the composition and, adjusting, creates this volume of textile."

Kim Myung-Suk is convinced that art cures our souls. Creativity is also a kind of healing. For ten years of development of this soft author's technique, the artist managed to defeat cancer. There is so much light and joy of life in her works, critics say. The exhibition is called "the Garden of the soul", in which the inhabitants of Primorye are now invited.

Kim Myung-Suk, artist (South Korea): "the Invitation of the Seaside state gallery to hold my personal exhibition is a great honor for me. This is my first opening day in Russia."

Kim Myung-Suk's abstract paintings resemble landscapes. They guess a variety of landscapes, space matter, flower meadows and lighthouses on the beach. Contemporary art is often aggressive, on the verge of shocking, and in Korea it is harmoniously intertwined with traditional culture. Textiles create a feeling of comfort and warmth of home.

Anna Lobkova, researcher at the Seaside art gallery: "it is Unusual that this textile work, they want to touch, feel. And, of course, the specificity of Korean art is that it is a meditative image that involves consideration, immersion."

Kim Myung-Suk presented one of her works to the Seaside art gallery as a sign of gratitude and appreciation. Exhibition of Korean artist opened in the Ceremonial hall of the Aleutian until 16 June.
