Today is world barcode birthday. This invention marked the beginning of the the accounting and sale of goods automation, made customer service fast and convenient.

These striped symbols on the goods packaging have become so familiar that we sometimes do not think about their meaning!

Meanwhile, a barcode is a special goods passport, where saved all information.

According to the European standard there are 13 numbers under the vertical bars. The first three designate the country of manufacture or its representative office, the others  - the enterprise code and product, show the price.

This new labeling standard was born on 3d of April 1973 and it changed the course of retail history!

The bar-code inventors are American graduate students who get the wishes of the food companies owners and came up with a convenient way to collect information on sales at the store’s cash desks.
