"Primorsky Sakhar" factory is ready to redirect its production and reduce the use of foreign primary materials, thus contributing to the program of import substitution.

Sugar from Primorsky region is being delivered to different parts of Far East: Kamchatka, Sakhalin, Magadan, Khabarovsk Territory, the Amur region and the Jewish autonomy. 

From Soviet Union period till present cane is being used to produce sugar on our factories. During Soviet Union regime we used to import cane from Cuba and now we deliver it from Latin America. It’s possible to stop importing expensive cane and replace it with local beet. At present, there already is a project, that allows factory to start beet sugar production.

Vladimir Lukyanov, General Director of "Primorsky Sakhar" said:

-We have already passed state expert review and got all approval documents for reconstruction. Now we need to get government assistance and investors support.

Import substitution is a long process and we can’t stop using foreign facilities in production process. At present we use facilities produced in India by German standards. This is absolutely automatic equipment, which rarely goes duff.

Agriculturists are ready to help “Primorsky Sakhar” factory.  Since 2008, local vegetable station conducted a series of studies, focused on selection of heavy crop and saccharous breeds of sugar beet.

There is need in big investments in order to revitalize sugar and beet production- new equipment, soil preparation,  specialists education. 

The most important for farmers now is to find new sales outlets, not just for sugar, but for molasses and pulps also. Japan and China are countries that seem to be interested in these primary materials. So we believe, that sugar factory reconstruction project will find its investors on 2nd Eastern Economic Forum that will be held in Vladivostok in September.
