The everyday life of Mordvins diaspora of Primorskii krai in Zarechnoe village

The story of these people in Primorye starts in the 20th century. That was exactly when first Mordvins started to move from Penza district to the Far East. Most of them stayed in October district. That is why Zarechnoe is still usually called Mordva.

Now you can not hear Mordvinic language. Tatiana Taranova is one of those who can not only speak Mordvinic but also sing in moksha. This national language used to be spoken there everywhere and it was not something unusual. But nowadays it sounds a bit odd.

Tatiana Taranova says that at school they had to speak Russian, but at home - only Mordvinic.

Most of the Mordvinic traditions are very similar to Russian. That is because the basis for both cultures is orthodoxy.

Now there are about 30 Mordvins in Zarechnoe. They regularly gather for holidays and participate in the life of their village, trying to save their culture.
