Interview with the head of mariculture department Svetlana Leskova.
Svetlana Leskova: “Mariculture became a specialised branch of aquaculture in 2000 BC. China was the first country to start breeding fish in paddy fields. In Russia, mariculture started to develop in full in 1970-1980. Hasanski district was the first one to do it in 1972. Now 20 000 hectares are used for breeding and there are more than 50 mariculture farms.Our products are very famous in Primorye, but we also sell it to Moscow, to the Western part of our country. Also, Korea and China buy our seafood.”
