"The Story of a Costume" exhibition is open at the Gorky library
The Year of Folk Art in the Gorky Regional Library opened with a unique exhibition - "The Story of a Costume". Boyar-style outfit, that belonged to a family of Far Eastern industrialists at the beginning of the 20th century, got a new incarnation.
Folk art can even look fashionable and certainly inspire modern creative women, prove the participants of the workshop "Golden Thread". They presented their creations to the admiring audience - theatrical handbags, capes, jewelry, embroidered with silk and gold cord, decorated with pearls and garnets. The name of the collection - "Alexandra" - is not accidental. All motifs of the embroidery are taken from the ball suit, which is stored in the Arseniev Museum. At the beginning of the 20th century it belonged to Alexandra Dmitrievna Sheveleva, the wife of a major Far Eastern industrialist.
The exhibition at the Gorky regional library invites you to learn about Russian balls in the Far East and the peculiarities of the national women's costume Until March 13 at the Gorky’s regional library.
