COVID survivors have an increased risk of contracting the new coronavirus variant
Preliminary evidence suggests that people who have previously had COVID-19 may have an increased risk of contracting the new "omicron" variant of coronavirus.
The WHO noted that more detailed information will be available "in the coming days and weeks," writes RIA Novosti.
The organization confirmed that the PCR tests currently in use are capable of detecting infection with the new strain.
Earlier, the WHO stressed that Omicron has not been sufficiently studied and it is too early to conclude that it may be more dangerous than the delta variant. At the same time, the WHO recalled that vaccines are crucial for reducing mortality and the severity of the disease.
