The scientist from Primorye interviewed a polar bear

A scientist from Ussuriysk moved to the Far North for work. Leonid Zaika lives on Wrangel Island among the snow and polar bears. His childhood dream was to work with wild polar animals. Now this dream has come true. After studying tigers in Primorye’s taiga, the scientist headed north to discover the Arctic - the Wrangel Island is the most Northern sanctuary of Russia.

Only the military, meteorologists and scientists live on the island. New huts were built for the staff of the sanctuary, and the old ones are currently being taken care of by bears.

Scientists keep track of the bears and check their living conditions To do this, the team searches for dens and, making sure there are no residents inside, involves Leonid in the work. His task is to squeeze into the den, measure its height and width and collect biomaterial.
