The history of Artiem

Artiem is a town of Primorye located not far from Vladivostok. Founded in 1924, the town used to be the biggest center of coal production of the entire Far East. Nowadays all of the mines are closed in Artiem. 

The population of the town is 105 000 people. The place has gotten its name after a famous Russian revolutionary Artiem ( Fedor Andreevitch Sergeev). 

The day of the town is celebrated annually on August 24th.
