Farmers of the "Artemovsky" agricultural enterprise are in process of potato harvesting on the south area of Primorsky region. After experiencing two typhoons, the harvest of the area will not get planned results.

Director of the “Artemovsky” Agricultural eneterprise, Vyacheslav Kostenov says: "Water is still standing, so we cannot use combined harvester".

In this case, there is a need for human resources, that is why temporary workers are being invited.

Temporary worker of the “Artemovsky” Agricultural eneterprise, Oleg Kadyirov says:

"I work here every weekend, it is better than simply lay on the sofa the whole day".

People are harvesting winded potato, tractors are being used to get potato out of the mud.

Thin-skinned potato is being harvested on ten hectares. This breed is not good for boiling, but is really good for making potato chips.

About 50% of this year potato harvest were destroyed by typhoons. In order to cultivate potatoes, not only agricultural knowledge and farmers' labor were used, but also money, including state financial support.

The head of Primorsky region department of agriculture, Denis Bochkarev said: “ Every year about 1.5 milliard rubles are being allocated from budget for the support of agricultural enterprises”.

Till the end, farmers have been hoping to get 300 planned quintals from hectare, but expectations didn’t fulfil. As a result, this year potato price is not low, about 25 rubles per kilogram. Farmers hope, that next year potato harvest will be much better, and it will be possible to reduce price.
