In Primorye, doctors are thinking about a genetic passport
In Primorye, doctors thought about a genetic passport so that desired and healthy children would be born. So far there are a lot of problems with this, and medicine cannot solve many of the issues. So, about 20 thousand patients, whose illnesses can only be foreseen in the future, live in the region today. How so-called orphan diseases are now diagnosed and treated is a report by Svetlana Dudik.
Rare, means orphan - this is a medical term. One case for half a million. A quick glance at a specific atlas is enough to experience pity and compassion. Each pain has its own story. But for most - there is no cure, it does not exist. And it is unclear what the root cause.
Sergey Voronin, Chief Specialist in Medical Genetics of the Far Eastern Federal District, PhD, “If it is a hereditary disease, then it is clear that parents can be carriers of recessive diseases. Outwardly completely healthy, but when two carriers of an autosomal recessive hereditary disease met, then sick children will be born with a probability of 25%. ”
