In Vladivostok, Golden Horn Bay is frozen
The ice-free bay of the Golden Horn was completely covered with ice. Vessels are in a jam and can not move. The reason for this - the abnormally cold weather, established in Primorye. In recent days, in Vladivostok, the thermometer tables have sunk below the mark at 20 degrees, and with allowance for humidity and strong wind, the perceptible temperature reaches minus 40 Celsius.
A hundred years ago this phenomenon was familiar to Vladivostok residents. After all, the bay froze for all three winter months. On the ice of the bay in the central part of the city opposite the Admiral Garden organized an ice rink. And the northern and southern part of the Golden Horn was connected by a winter road - a road through which a transport connection was made with the Churkina metro station.
But after the waters of the Golden Horn began to discharge sewage, including from CHPP-2, the bay became nonfreezing. Also on the process of ice formation is affected by active navigation.
Meanwhile, in the 21st century it happened when the Golden Horn Bay was completely covered with ice. The last time this happened in 2004.
