The new open-cast mine is being built in Primorye
July, 27 was the day when the building of the open-cast mine began. The coal will be extracted in an open way. First tonnes are planned to be extracted this fall.
Before the extraction, the workers need to get to the coal. And now they are doing a so-called opening work. The closest deposit is 15 m deep under the ground.
The previous extraction happened 40 years ago in Novoshkhtinsk. The territory in Lipovtsi was planned to be used as a mine back in the 20th century. But the region didn’t need extra coal.
The new open-cast mine is called “Nekkovii”. The mine is going to offer 300 new places for engineers, miners and drivers. 500 000 tonnes of coal are planned to be extracted the next year.
