Putin announced a new lockdown from October 30th to November 7th
President Vladimir Putin declared a lockdown in Russia from October 30th to November 7th.
Such a drastic measure was introduced because of the changing epidemiological situation. For a number of regions the lockdown will start already on October 23. This decision was taken together with the government.
"It is important to slow down the rate of infection," stressed the head of state. At the same time, the salaries of workers during the lockdown period must be preserved.
The day before this proposal was made by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, she was supported by the head of the Cabinet of Ministers Mikhail Mishustin.
The head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko said that the numbers of coronavirus cases are approaching the peak values of last year.
