Homecoming: orcas and white whales are leaving their prison in Primorye
The government will ban fishing sea mammals out - one of the results of the «Direct line» with Vladimir Putin. During the conference, the problem of the «whale prison» was one of the most important. Earlier this morning, on June 21, the first orcas and white whales have been moved from Sredniaya bay in order to be set free.
Everything started a bit earlier, when it was 5 in the morning in Moscow. RTR crew was the one and only to witness how sea mammals were being prepared to leave their jail.
Almost 100 polar whales were left there for «scientific purposes», but lately, it turned out that the whales were planned to be sold.
It was not easy to find a legal solution for this situation. The «freedom» plan was created by experts, even scientists from Cousteau’s team came to the bay to help. For a long time, the situation was stagnant, but, the day of the direct line, everything has changed.
The animals will be set free in the area where they were fished out - Shantar Islands.
