Vladivostok is the running capital of Russia

According to the results of the 19th of May “ZaBeg” all-Russian half-marathon, Vladivostok has  name as the running capital of Russia. Vladivostok fans of running in the team competition showed the best results in the country, scoring 35.49 points. In total, more than 3 thousand people became participants in a mass race in the Far Eastern capital.

This year the action united 19 Russian cities. In 2019 about 70 thousand runners took part in it. At the same time, throughout the country, participants  synchronously overcame distances of 2, 5, 10 km and a 21.1 km half marathon. According to the results of the competition, Vladivostok showed the best result among all the cities that took part in the action.

The running capital of Russia is determined by three selection criteria: the average distance overcomed by all city participants, the number of ZaBeg participants to the total population of the city, and the average speed of the participants.

Professional athletes and fans of different ages take part in the race. So, in Vladivostok, the youngest participant this year is 7 years old, and the oldest one is 94 years old.

In 2019, Vladivostok took part in “Zabeg” action for the third time. Earlier, Primorye capital two times become the winner of this all-Russian half-marathon. In 2017, the regional center took the second place, in 2018 - the third.
