Rare orchids symbolize the coming of spring in Primorye
An exhibition of rare orchids has opened in the greenhouse of the Botanical Garden-Institute.
There are more than 40 varieties of orchids from around the world.
A variety of shapes and shades is amazing.
The orchid family has more than 20 thousand species.
But biologists have grown even more varieties artificially.
Many orchids are coming from habitats: rain forests of South America, Thailand, Ecuador.
But some were cloned in the laboratory of the Botanical Garden-Institute of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Some specially create the conditions to plant complex orchids. They build special houses for them, where humidity and air circulation are maintained, as in the mountains.
