July 31 was 100 years since the formation of the largest military district in Russia – the Eastern, the successor of the red banner far Eastern military district.
The date of Foundation of the far Eastern military district is considered to be July 31, 1918. On this day, the regular part of the Workers 'and Peasants' red Army defeated the troops of the white guards and interventionists in the area of the Kaul heights, Shmakovka and Spassk. This date is widely celebrated by the servicemen of the Eastern military district.
The Eastern military district was formed in the course of the military reform of 2008-2010 on the basis of the red banner far Eastern military district (Feb) and part of the troops of the red banner Siberian military district (Sibvo and the former order of Lenin, TRANS-Baikal military district). It also included the red banner Pacific fleet and the 3rd red banner command of the air force and air defense.
