"Stone Painting." A unique exhibition opened in the Regional Folk Culture Center - paintings in the Florentine mosaic style. Jasper, agate, lapis lazuli and other natural minerals play the role of paints for still lifes and landscapes.
It's hard to believe that a beautiful tigress with a tiger cub against the background of a multi-colored taiga is not drawn, but lined with a stone. So masterfully selected sections of minerals. Anton Olkhovsky collected his collection for twenty years. Once I saw a stone icon of the Savior of the Almighty and was carried away by the Florentine mosaic. This art comes from Italy, but Russian master stone-cutters also excelled in it.
Anton Olkhovsky, collector: "Our masters pick up, as in nature, find such a cut in the mineral. From this there is a common scale of this beauty. "
Lotus petals - from rhodonite and jasper, green leaves - from jade. Different shades of stone - like a game of sun glare. It happens that the mineral itself tells the plot of the picture. Here, for example, the striped onyx in agate became a lake at the foot of the volcano. A reddish jasper - mysterious planet Mars with satellites from charoite and fluorite.
