Sparta, the tiger that was rescued 14 years ago in Primorye, gave birth to a tiger cub in the Swedish zoo « Northern Ark ».
The tigress named Sparta, who was rescued 14 years ago in Primorye, had a baby boy named Almaz. He was born in November in the Swedish zoo "Northern Ark". The news was reported on the official page of the Russian branch of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
The tiger cub's eyes have opened, he currently weighs about five kilograms.
Sparta was spotted on the road near the coastal village of Chuguevka in 2007. She and a second four-month-old tiger cub, named Constance, were rescued by loggers. The orphaned cubs ended up in a special inspection where they were treated and examined by veterinarians from Vladivostok and Moscow. "When the striped pets grew stronger and recovered, Constance was transferred to the Penza zoo, while Sparta went to Sweden," WWF said.
