The construction of new dams, which should protect settlements from disruptive effects of flooding in the north of the region, is being completed. Last year typhoon brought serious adjustments to the implementation of the "Environmental Protection" state regional program.
The dam in the Shumniy village of Chuguevsky district was built in the shortest time possible - in one month. There was no time for delay, since spring is just around the corner and the potential danger of spring flooding comes with it. At present it only requires to strengthen the most critical areas. According to the construction workers, if only originally there was normal coastal protection, then floods would have been avoided.
Denis Borisov, the head of the construction site: "The new dam can withstand the strong typhoons and the villagers will not have to suffer the consequences of floods again".
Serebryanka River of Terneysky district. Six months ago, the flow was level with the bridge, the height of which is equal to the two-story building. Workers are still cleaning the channel of logs and debris.
Sergei Kudryavtsev, road worker: "We are here since the flood came. The water ran through the bridge. Everything there was crammed with logs".
Administration of the region successfully fights with the consequences of the typhoon. But still one problem remains. Forest of Terney district is congested of broken trees. When summer comes all these trees will dry up and the risk of forest fires will increase. At present, local administration needs to solve this problem.
