An active struggle against extremism is being conducted in Primorsky region and throughout the whole country. A young man, who has been humiliating his friends and acquaintances on the basis of religious confession and ethnic origin was handed a two-year suspended sentence. He placed his religion and nation above the rest.
Viktor Ivanov, the victim: "He said, that Russians are scums without national dignity. Such statements caused righteous indignation".
Previously, he was a cheerful and sympathetic person. But after spending half of a year in the native country, he has changed dramatically. He began to insult and humiliate friends, he had known for years.
His old friends have been tolerating such actions for a long time, but after another incident they have appealed to law enforcement bodies.
Daria Omelchenko, prosecutor: "The court found the defendant guilty of committing acts aimed at inciting hatred and enmity, as well as humiliation on the basis of religious confession and ethnic origin. The defendant has admitted his guilt and was handed a two-year suspended sentence.”
This trial is not the first of such kind in Primorsky region. Law enforcement bodies regularly reveal cases of extremism.
The region is actively working on counter extremism. From school years teens are being taught to respect people of different nationalities and religion.
Extremism, like terrorism, has no nationality and religious affiliation, any person will be convicted for such actions.
