Primorsky region will represent Russia at the Underwater Robot Challenge

"News: Primorye" with the reference to the press service of the Primorsky regional administration reports, that students and post-graduate students of the Far East Federal University are preparing to participate in the open Asian Underwater Robot Challenge - Singapore AUV Challenge. International competition will be held on 10th -13th of March and will gather developers from the world's leading universities. 28 teams from China, India, Singapore, Egypt, Pakistan, Malaysia, Thailand, USA and Sweden have already passed registration.  

Specialists of Department of Education and Science of Primorsky region noted, that Far Eastern Federal University is the only Russian university, which participates in this prestigious tournament.

As Maxim Sporyshev, the team captain and a graduate student of the School of Natural Sciences informs, his team is preparing a robot that has proved to be worthy of the Singapore AUV Challenge in 2016, previous year team of FEFU got the second place. Within upcoming month the programmers and engineers will significantly modify the robot: write new software and equip it with special device for objects lifting.

Underwater robotics is one of the promising directions of the Far Eastern Federal University. The university has already got an international reputation in this area. In 2013, the Far Eastern Federal University students with an autonomous robot won the Singapore AUV Challenge, in 2015 and 2016 they brought “silever medal” to Russia. Since 2012 FEFU participates in RoboSub - Worldwide robotics tournament.
