«History of the region»: The end of the World War II. Part 3

The terrifying atomic bombardment of Hiroshima and Nagasaki held by the USA in 1945 was completely unnecessary and only led to hundreds of thousands of deaths. President Truman’s attempt to scare the Soviet Union, the country that defeated fascism, was meaningless. The final victory in the War World II was reached with the help of Soviet soldiers.

On August 9, 1945 the USSR starts attacking the Guandong army of Japan on the Far East. Marchal Vasilevsky was the commander of the Soviet army. The aviation bombed military facilities, military camps and communication points of the opponent.

Ruslan Kulepanov, the member of the Institute of history, archeology and ethnography of the Far East: «Marchal Vasilevsky organised an impetuous attack of three fronts at the same time: the first Far-Eastern front, the second Far-Eastern and Zabaikalsky fronts on a vast territory from Zabaikalie to the Far East. The Japanese command was not ready for such operation. After defeating Germany in 1945, the Soviet army was making unexpected decisions. The Japanese army was not ready for this «winner» psychology from our soldiers».
