The Ethnic Congress will be held in Primorsky region on 8th of September. Khaydarov family will represent Uzbek diaspora. They will make real Bukhara pilaf for the guests.
A feeling that you have been transmitted to Bukhara envelopes you as soon as you are entering Khaydarovs’ home. National ornaments fit into the modern interior. The lady of the house, 42 years old Shahista just cooked Bukhara pilaf. Of course, this dish is popular among people of different ethnic groups, but each nation has its own recipe. According to Bukhara’s recipe pilaf should not be stirred, that is why it has a whitish-yellow color.
Warm hospitality is a distinctive feature of the eastern character. And if you are invited to the table, don’t deny the offer. Besides pilaf, Shahista also baked traditional flatbread. Head of the family also helped his wife and prepared a salad. According to the eastern tradition it is common to have a leisurely conversation while eating. But a fast pace of Vladivostok life has changed their character– they work every day seven days a week, almost don’t have time for rest and only visit of an important guest is a reason to recall the tradition.
Khaydarov family came to Vladivostok 15 years ago, because of doctor’s recommendation, which advised them to change the dry and hot climate of Uzbekistan to the humid one of seaside. Their children grew here, the eldest daughter got married to the Uzbek that lives in Primorsky region, about a week ago she became a mother. The youngest son is studying in the Far Eastern Federal University.
Ethnic Congress will be held in a few days. Vladivostok Uzbek ethnic group is carefully preparing for it. There will be costumes and songs, and, of course, pilaf, made by Shahista Khaydarova.
