Traditional celebration of the first day of the school will take place on September 2. 

According to Natalia Bondarenko, vice - governor of Primorye, the decision of postponing the beginning of the school year was made due to this year’s calendar. School in Russia traditionally starts on September 1, but it will be Sunday this year.

«When discussing traditional celebrations related to schools on Saturday or Sunday, it should be taken into account that, according to educational norms, there can not be any school related activities during the weekend. So that is why, all of the celebrations should be organised on September 2 this year».
