DAY KOREAN INVESTOR BROUGHT PRIMORYE NEW PROJECTS

Several Korean companies are ready to open enterprises in the field of shipbuilding and agriculture in Primorye. Preliminary agreements on this were reached at the events within the framework of the Korean investor Day, which was held on February 12-13 in Seoul. Traditionally, the Russian delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – presidential Plenipotentiary envoy to the far Eastern Federal district Yuri Trutnev. The event from Primorsky Krai was attended by the acting Vice-Governor Konstantin Bogdanenko.

One of the key events on the business agenda was the round table, which was attended by more than 20 major Korean companies interested in implementing joint projects with Russia. At the meeting, Yuri Trutnev presented the investment opportunities of the far Eastern Federal district.

"The far East is the closest part of Russia to the Republic of Korea, so the opportunities for cooperation are the widest. The Republic of Korea's interest in cooperation in the Russian far East is growing. Last year, the delegation of the Republic of Korea to the IV Eastern economic forum included more than 330 business representatives. Today, we have a number of promising joint investment projects worth more than $ 1 billion. This is the modernization of port infrastructure, production of environmentally friendly products, the creation of medical centers. We will support all these and other projects, provide tax incentives and help with infrastructure. The government of Russia, development institutions established under the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the development of the Far East, will accompany each investment project with the participation of Korean capital," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The participants discussed the launch of new investment projects in the course of bilateral negotiations. Thus, the company "h Kay" (HK) presented a project to establish the production of medium - and small-tonnage vessels, which is planned to be placed on the basis of the Slavic shipyard in Khasansky district. In addition, "BOS Netvorks" together with the Maritime group of companies "Arnika" will be built in TOR Nadezhdinskiy Elevator complexes for storage of corn, starch factory and the Biofactory "Aminosides". Enterprises will be able to produce up to 300 thousand tons of high-tech feed products per year, which are currently imported to Russia from abroad.

"These projects are among the priority areas of development of the economy of Primorye. And we are ready to provide the necessary support and provide them with administrative support, in order to move from negotiations to practical work directly in the territory of the region, so that these enterprises earn, begin to produce products, so that modern jobs appear there," Konstantin Bogdanenko commented.

Now more than 50 enterprises with South Korean capital are operating in Primorye, while nine of them have received the status of residents of the territories of advanced development and the free port of Vladivostok. Many of them have not only successfully implemented their projects, but also, having assessed the advantages of the region, expand their presence. For example, the company" Lotte international " (Lotte International) last year purchased the main hotel in Vladivostok and two agricultural enterprises in Primorsky Krai, and now plans to build a livestock complex dairy direction.

"Our cooperation with the Republic of Korea is gaining momentum, and not only in the field of investment. Last year alone, the number of South Korean guests in Primorye increased by 2.5 times – 224 thousand guests. Trade turnover increased by almost 20% to $ 1.35 billion. Mutual interest remains in the implementation of projects in the field of transport and logistics complex. Therefore, I hope that many of the ideas that our partners have voiced these days will be presented in the future in the form of specific business proposals and we will be able to "land" them on the territory of Primorsky Krai," Konstantin Bogdanenko outlined the prospects.

Recall that the day of the Korean investor was first held in Seoul. Previously, the format of the meetings took place twice a year – in Khabarovsk and in Vladivostok.
