The construction of a nuclear center for the examination and treatment of cancer patients will begin on Russky Island in 2019. This was stated by the Governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako during his working visit to Moscow. Oleg Kozhemyako met with the leadership of Rosatom State Corporation, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the state development corporation VEB.RF. The meeting focused on the construction of a nuclear center for the fight against cancer in Primorye.

Five hectares of land on Russky Island are reserved for the construction of the center. The design and estimate documentation of the future center is ready, and in the near future, the documents will be sent to the state examination.

The center will receive about 6 thousand patients annually. It will provide opportunities for examination and treatment of cancer patients. A powerful cyclotron will also allow for scientific research.
